The practice

From treating disease to getting ahead of it.

For three decades Dr. Caccavale cared for patients with serious disease. Work like that raises a question surgery cannot answer: sitting with someone whose illness is already advanced, you begin to ask what could have been recognized earlier, and what anyone would have had to measure to see it.

Prevention is not a departure from that career. It is the same medicine, applied sooner.

Testing creates information. Judgment makes it useful.

Modern diagnostics can produce an extraordinary amount of data. More testing does not, by itself, produce better health. A result only means something alongside your age, your history, your medications, and the strength of the evidence behind the test itself.

So testing is selected for the individual, not ordered from a checklist — and Dr. Caccavale tells you plainly what follows, including when the answer is that nothing needs to change.

What happens

From first call to six-month review.

  1. Schedule a free 15-minute call

No cost, and nothing is charged before you decide to go ahead.

  2. The call

A brief introductory conversation to understand what you’re looking for, explain how the practice works, and determine whether the membership is a good fit.

  3. Enrolling

A secure Stripe link arrives by email. Card or bank transfer.

  4. Your bloods are drawn

At any Quest location, after a twelve-hour fast. Quest bills your insurance separately.

  5. A 90-minute consultation

By video. Every number, and what it means in the context of your history.

  6. Your written plan

    Sent after the visit.

  7. Six months later

The same panel and a second consultation, to see whether the plan moved anything.

What we evaluate

Cardiovascular and metabolic risk, in depth.

Testing is selected for the individual, not ordered from a fixed checklist.

A cardiometabolic panel, not a cholesterol test.

A Cleveland HeartLab assessment, drawn at any Quest location, measures a good deal a routine lipid panel does not:

  • Lipoprotein particle count and size (NMR)
  • ApoB
  • Lp(a)
  • hs-CRP
  • Insulin
  • C-peptide
  • HbA1c
  • Homocysteine
  • Omega-3 index
  • Vitamin D
  • Thyroid
  • Full metabolic panel
  • Complete blood count
  • Urinalysis

Genetic markers — ApoE, MTHFR, Factor V — are added when family history warrants it.

What follows is a written plan — nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress, and medication where warranted, including advanced lipid therapy, GLP-1 medications and hormone management. A medication review covers what you need, what you do not, and how to obtain the rest at the lowest cost.

Membership

$2,600 a year

  • Two consultations with Dr. Caccavale — initial and six-month review
  • Two advanced cardiometabolic panels
  • A written plan after each visit
  • Medication review
  • Direct email and telephone access between visits
  • Evening and weekend appointments
  • Additional panels at cost, as needed

A tier with fuller access is available; he explains scope and fee before any commitment.

How payment works

Nothing is charged before the intro call. If you both decide to go ahead, a secure Stripe link follows by email — card or bank transfer, billed once a year, not submitted to insurance. Laboratory work is separate: Quest bills it, and most insurance covers it.

About

Robert J. Caccavale, MD, FACS

Robert J. Caccavale, MD, FACS

He helped pioneer video-assisted thoracic surgery — his group published the first VATS case report in the world — and performed more than 5,000 procedures, while teaching at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He was named a New Jersey Top Doctor nine times.

He founded Absolute Health in 2014 and learned the field properly: the National Lipid Association’s Masters in Lipidology, training in continuous glucose monitoring and lifestyle medicine, and study since 2015 under Dr. Thomas Dayspring.

He sees every patient himself, spends ninety minutes on a first consultation, and writes the plan himself afterward. When a question belongs to another specialist, he says so.

  • Diplomate, American Board of Thoracic Surgery
  • Fellow, American College of Surgeons

Is this for me if I feel fine?

Often, yes. Cardiometabolic disease is typically silent for ten to twenty years. Feeling well is not the same as having been looked at properly.

Where can I be seen?

Video visits, for patients located in New Jersey at the time of the visit.

Do you take insurance?

Not for the membership, which is paid directly. Laboratory work is billed by Quest and is usually covered by your insurance.

Will I get my results?

All of them, with a written explanation in plain English.
